Overview

LRMS is an acronymn for Linear Referencing Management System. This is the method NZTA uses to identify points along the state highway network using a linear system.

For example 01N-0414-B/9.500 refers to a point on the Auckland Motorways;

Element	Value	Note
State Highway	01N	always 3 characters. Each state highway has an origin which determines the sequence of route sections and RP's
Route Section (RS)	0414	State highways are split up into route sections of approx 10 kilometres. This number represents the route section or interchange number.
Direction or Ramp Number	B	This can be I(ncreasing), D(eacreasing), B(oth), R(amp number) or W(oundabout).
Route Position (RP)	9.500	kilometres.

Usage Instructions

Find linear location

To find the linear location of any point on the map right click over a state highway. If you right click within 100m of a state highway the marker will snap to the point on the road closest to where you clicked. Note an information window will pop up showing the linear reference and map coordinates in several coordinate systems. If you close the information pop up the linear referece of the point can quickly be found by hovering the mouse over the marker.

Remove a marker

To remove a marker simply double click on the marker

Find an address

Click search and then 'Place' to search by address, town or area

Find a GPS coordinate

Click search and then 'Coordinates' to search by NZMG, NZTM or WGS84 coordinates

A/ Data is typically updated every month. To check when the data was last updated right click of a state highway and check the Data Source and Date field.
